News - high female performers: Follow-up project after convention The EIZ Niedersachsen and InWEnt- Internationale Weiterbildung und Entwicklung gGmbH - are aiming at carrying on the project at a later date and implementing a follow-up project. The current economic situation and possible effects and risks resulting from it regarding the project idea were thoroughly discussed and evaluated. To this effect the evaluation of trade associations and networks in Lower Saxony regarding international qualification modules for female executives and specialised employees was solicited. The risk assessment results showed that especially our target group- small and medium sized businesses - will have to expect a pronounced slump in sales. Hence, the continuation of the project is to be postponed until the data about the economic development is more reliable. |

Network for Businesswomen and Female Managers
The European Information Centre of Lower Saxony, the entrepreneurs association of Lower Saxony, the women’s council of Lower Saxony and other institutions and organisations would like to welcome you to a congress treating the issue "cross-cultural competence". This congress will take place in Hannover on November 5th/6th 2008 due to the foundation of a new transnational network for women.

| The world is changing. Markets are globalised and only those who bargain and realise their business ideas beyond national borders will exist on a stable basis. Companies, businesswomen and managers are facing new challenges: Increasingly you have to attune to business contacts with foreign partner firms. So, only those who know the cultural conventions of their partners and are able to adjust to them will succeed. Starting with the first contact and ending with goal-oriented marketing of products and services, cross-cultural competence plays a crucial role.

The internationalisation of both society and economy increases the demand for new knowledge, skills and talents. Expertise no longer suffices. The new key qualifications are cross-cultural competence and organisational ability in combination with the capability of interchanging ideas and knowledge within international networks.
Since the number of women in leading positions in economy and administration is still comparatively low, it is in the interest of the Lower Saxon state government to influence this situation positively. That is why it supports cross-border networking of businesswomen and female managers.
The network "high female performers", which we are going to found at the end of the congress in Hannover, offers businesswomen and female managers from the economy, from trade associations and from public administrations the possibility to strengthen their cross-cultural competence by mutual exchange. Additionally, the network will support a dialogue about the promotion of women in leading positions.
